ARCADIS is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our Houston, TX office.
ARCADIS is seeking a Senior Ecologist/Biologist to join our Risk Assessment and Ecological Sciences team in our Houston, TX office to work on projects involving wetlands and coastal mitigation/restoration, environmental permitting and regulatory compliance, and ecological resources evaluation (including natural resource damage assessments).
Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Provide senior technical and strategic support for wetlands mitigation and restoration projects, environmental permitting and compliance projects, ecological services analyses, oil spill response activities, and natural resource damage assessments
* Direct and/or support the development of proposals, presentations, work plans, environmental assessment documents, and site investigation reports
* Manage large scale environmental projects including those associated with wetlands, permitting and compliance, risk evaluation, and ecological restoration activities
* Provide staff oversight and quality control for environmental projects and deliverables
* Contribution to multidisciplinary teams for projects that include natural resources evaluation, environmental permitting and review, environmental impact assessment, oil spill and incident response, and ecological restoration
* Work closely with, mentor, and potentially supervise technical staff
* Manage multiple projects and time commitments effectively
Experience - External:
Basic and Required Qualifications:
* Minimum years of experience: 8 years of consulting experience
* Education required: B.S. in Environmental or related science (e.g., Ecology, Biology, Toxicology, Environmental Chemistry)
* Skills required: Demonstrated commitment to a career focused on solving complex issues related to ecological assessments. Strong quantitative, leadership, and multi-media communication skills; strong background in ecology, biology or related field. Experience with complex RCRA, CERCLA and TCEQ regulatory programs (e.g., Texas Risk Reduction Program) including state and federal agency interactions and negotiations.
Additional and Preferred Qualifications:
* Education preferred: M.S. or PhD in Environmental or related science (e.g., ecology, biology, toxicology, environmental chemistry)
* Years experience preferred: 9+
* Skills preferred: Field experience with habitat evaluations (including wetlands), and ecological assessments.
* This position does require travel. Travel amount is negligible.
* A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
* This position does manage others.
